Traditional fishing with the magic of dusk

Squid and cuttlefish fishing is part of Salou's seafaring tradition. It is usually done at dawn or dusk, when cephalopods come up near the surface to feed.

The technique combines squid jigs (special hooks for squid) y cuttlefish rigs (lures for cuttlefish) with a bit of patience and the unique magic of dusk on the Mediterranean. A relaxed, gastronomic and very photogenic outing — combinable with sunset.

When is the best time of year?+

Squid: autumn-winter (October to March). Cuttlefish: spring (April-June). Octopus: all year round. Trips run all year but with more varied catches depending on the month.

What time do we set off?+

Two options: a dawn trip (07:00 – 11:00) or a dusk trip (18:00 – 22:00). Cephalopods come up to the surface in low light, at dawn or dusk — the best moments for jigging.

Is it suitable for beginners and children?+

Yes, it's one of the most relaxed modes. The skipper teaches you how to use the squid jig. Suitable for families with children from 6–7 years old.

What equipment do I need?+

Nothing. We bring all the jigs, cuttlefish lures and tackle on board. We recommend warm clothing — it gets cooler at dawn and dusk.

Yes. The dusk trip (18:00 – 22:00) coincides with the sunset: sunset and fishing at once. Optional dinner on board with custom catering (see extras when booking).

Do I get to keep the catches?+

Yes, everything you catch is yours. You return to the harbour with your freshly caught Mediterranean dinner.
