A historic event

121 years on, the Sun will go dark over Salou

On 12 August 2026, the Moon will completely cover the Sun and day will turn to night for close to a minute. It is the first total solar eclipse visible from the Spanish mainland since 1905 — and Salou is, fortunately, within the narrow band of totality.

This is no small detail: cities as close as Barcelona fall outside the band and there you'll only see a partial eclipse. In Salou, by contrast, the Sun will vanish entirely and you'll see the solar corona ringing a black disc, with planets and stars in broad daylight. A sight very few people will ever witness in their lives.

The detail that changes everything

Why the sea is the only place to see it

During totality, the Sun will be only about 4° above the horizon — almost touching the sea, just before it sets. And that is the key to everything.

🏙️

From land, it's blocked

With the Sun so low, buildings, promenades, mountains and the coast itself block the view. Most people trying from the town or the beach won't see full totality.

🌊

From the sea, a clear horizon

Out at sea, off Salou, the west-southwest horizon is completely clear. It is, quite literally, the best seat on the Costa Dorada for this eclipse.

🎯

We position you at the optimal spot

The skipper takes the boat to the exact place and orientation so the eclipsed Sun stays clear over the sea. No obstacles, no crowds, no stress.

🥂

And with the perfect atmosphere

The eclipse, the corona over the Mediterranean, the sunset sky and a glass of brut cava (or your drink of choice) in your hand. A memory for life, over the sea.

🔥 Extremely high demand · once-in-a-lifetime date

In Salou even balconies are being rented at a king's ransom

Salou is one of the very few points on the Spanish mainland in the band of totality. Hotels, balconies and terraces with a sea view are selling at record prices for that night. We have one boat and one trip: once it's booked, there's no more. The next total eclipse in Spain is in 2027 (only in the south) and after that you'll have to wait decades.

Frequently asked questions

Everything about the eclipse by boat

Total. Salou lies within the narrow band of totality on 12 August 2026. This is exceptional: nearby cities such as Barcelona fall outside it and will only see a partial eclipse. It is the first total solar eclipse visible from the Spanish mainland since 1905.
Because during totality the Sun will be only about 4° above the horizon, almost touching the sea. From land, buildings and the coast block such a low Sun. From a boat out at sea you have a completely clear west-southwest horizon: the safest way not to miss it.
The total phase happens around 20:29–20:30 and lasts approximately 1 minute. The trip is 4 hours so we arrive in good time, position ourselves and also enjoy the partial phase and the sunset.
Yes. The package includes certified solar observation glasses (ISO 12312-2) for everyone on board. Looking at the Sun without protection is dangerous; only during the minute of totality can you look with the naked eye, and the skipper tells you exactly when.
150 € per person. Full payment at booking. Includes: a spot on shared boat (max 9 on board), 4-hour trip, certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses, one drink of your choice (brut cava, Mahou 5 Estrellas beer, soft drink or water), professional skipper with astronomy briefing and optimal positioning to see totality with no obstruction.
It's a shared trip: up to 9 people on board across all bookings. If you come alone, you'll be with other passengers also buying their spot. If you want to come with your group, you can book several spots in one reservation (up to 9 at once). For full exclusivity contact us on WhatsApp.
One drink of your choice per passenger: brut cava, Mahou 5 Estrellas beer, soft drink (Coca-Cola/Fanta/Aquarius) or Font Vella mineral water. You choose at the time of booking.
A single trip, a once-in-a-lifetime date and a single boat. Very limited slots and extremely high demand in Salou for that date. Available for now — we recommend confirming as soon as possible.
If the skipper cancels for safety at sea, the full amount is refunded or an alternative is found. Cloud cover is a risk for any astronomical observation; going out to sea maximises the chances of a clear horizon compared with the coast.
No. On board we do a short briefing: what you'll see, when to put your glasses on and take them off and how to enjoy the minute of totality. All you have to do is look at the sky.
